Parent Input Requested Regarding Challenge Classes

posted Apr 27, 2016, 5:29 PM by KJH PTSA Communications

Are you aware that the district's Middle School Task Force voted April 18th to change the Challenge program from its current format?

If passed by the School Board, this will eliminate Self-Select Challenge courses in English, Science, and Social Studies. Changes to the Math Self-Select Challenge model are still being discussed.

And recently, the Northshore Council PTSA Board of Directors voted on April 4, 2016 to take the position of asking the School Board to MAINTAIN the current Self-Select Challenge Program after the grade reconfiguration to middle school in 2017.

The school board is currently taking input from the community on this matter. Write an email, send a letter and/or speak at one of the upcoming School Board meetings held at the NSD Administration Building (April 26, May 10, or May 24).

More information about the proposed changes can be found at this district link: http://wwwnew.nsd.org/grtfmiddle.
