Come support Northshore students of all abilities in the “Love Alive Concert” presented by and featuring the Skyview Junior High School Music Project, May 16, 6 p.m., at the Northshore Performing Arts Center, 18125 92nd Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011. The event is free and open to the public.

Produced and directed by Bernadette Bascom, Founder of The Music Project, and co-sponsored by the Northshore School District, this concert was developed in association with Ailisa Newhall, choir director, Skyview Junior High School and includes the following special guests: Michael Wansley of the Grammy Award winning group Macklemore; Roger Fisher, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honoree; Sanjaya Malaker, American Idol participant; Geoffrey Castle, pioneering electric violinist; and members of Northshore Wranglers. Included is a student performance of “Do You Love Me,” with arrangements and choreography by 5th Avenue Theater choreographer Trina Mills, accompanied by The Music Project band and music direction by John Studamire.

The Music Project ties the study of music with a singing performance experience to create a unique program that empowers students. Bernadette Bascom is the creator of the Music Project which has become a prototype around the country of uplifting and self-esteem-building performances. Students learn the value and rewards of sustained effort and hard work toward a specific performance goal and the achievement of success. The primary goals of the program are to give kids a means of self-expression and to provide an opportunity for them to learn and perform together no matter their differences.
